Biography

Les Dupont is a French electronic music group formed in Nice in 1994. The group is considered to be one of the founders of the IDM genre in France (intelligent dance music). Over the course of 23 studio albums and many live tours (Technotravel, Electronic Paris Week, IRCAM Live with artists like Laurent Garnier, Sven Väth, Carl Cox, Daft Punk, Jackson and his Computer Band etc.), they are known for theatrical, industrial-themed live performances and videos.

Les Dupont, a French duo formed in 1994 on the altar of Miracle, Renaissance and Black Metal projects, has already experienced several evolutions. As Didier Blasco-Giavitto reminds us: “Electronic music allows us to explore a wide variety of genres, from the most peaceful ambient to the most frenetic hardcore. Why stick to one style? It is undoubtedly beneficial for the marketing which likes to stick labels, for us it would be reductive and a defect of imagination”.

Now Les Dupont have joined forces with the vocal ensemble Beata mvsicA, directed by Gilles Grimaldi, who is familiar with 17th century works. Their songs punctuate a hypnotic electro inspired by the German high baroque and it is an experience: Sacred Song 12 invites to the inner journey, at the same time that it develops a dark and incantatory tone, cf. the video clip, remounting of The Passion of Joan of Arc directed by Carl Theodor Dreyer in 1928.
